JM Bullion vs APMEX (2026): Shipping, Payment Fees and Selection Compared

By Mark Sandulli · Founder & editor · Updated October 21, 2026 · Not financial advice

Short answer: JM Bullion and APMEX are two of the biggest online bullion dealers, and their basic terms are close: both ship free on orders of $199 or more, and both take about 4% off if you pay by bank transfer, check or wire instead of card or PayPal. The real differences are selection (APMEX has more graded and collector coins), international shipping (APMEX ships abroad; JM ships to U.S. addresses only) and price on the day you buy. For plain bullion, compare the delivered price for the same coin at both.

Price

Neither dealer is always cheaper. Premiums change daily and differ by product. Customers often say APMEX’s premiums run higher than low-cost dealers on plain bullion. The only reliable test is to put the same coin or bar in both carts, choose the same payment method, and compare the total delivered price. What is a fair premium over spot? →

Shipping

Both ship free at $199. Below that, APMEX charges $9.95 on U.S. orders. JM Bullion’s shipping page doesn’t list its fee; when it raised the free-shipping threshold to $199 in 2020 it announced $7.99 below that, so check the total at checkout. JM uses USPS, FedEx, UPS or armored car depending on the order, and insures every package until delivery is confirmed.

Paying

At both dealers the card or PayPal price is the highest. Paying by bank transfer, check or wire saves about 4%; on a $5,000 order that’s about $200. Both take crypto at about 3% off the card price. APMEX takes Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum through BitPay, with a $400,000 weekly limit.

Selection

Both carry gold, silver, platinum and palladium bullion and some rare coins. APMEX’s range of graded, collector and pre-1933 coins is among the largest online. If you want a specific graded coin, start with APMEX. For common bullion coins and bars, either will have it.
