By Mark Sandulli · Founder & editor · Updated October 21, 2026 · Not financial advice

Short answer: Augusta Precious Metals says it may pay up to 10 years of custodian and depository fees for qualifying accounts. At $235 a year, that’s worth up to about $2,350. Augusta doesn’t publish who qualifies or how many years you’d get, so ask and get it in writing. The minimum is $50,000, and Augusta scores 8.1 in our rankings (#2 of 7).

Questions to ask Augusta

  1. Does my account qualify, how many years of fees will you pay, and what decides that?
  2. Does the offer depend on which coins or bars I buy?
  3. What ends the offer: a smaller balance, a sale, moving the account?
  4. What is the price over spot on the metals you’d recommend, in writing?

The catch

The offer is worth up to $2,350. On a $100,000 purchase, one extra point of markup on the metal costs $1,000. Compare Augusta’s written price over spot with at least one other company before deciding. We don’t count promotions in our scores.
